This morning I sat with my coffee, scrolling news, and saw global gold prices plummet over 100 USD. If you’re holding gold at home, you’re probably worried. But I want to tell you something: this isn’t a moment to panic. It’s a moment to understand how money actually works.
📌 What’s Happening Right Now
- Global gold prices fell over 100 USD per ounce in a single day
- Reason: Market expectations that the U.S. Federal Reserve (Fed) may raise interest rates again
- When interest rates rise, people don’t need “safe havens” in gold — they deposit money in banks to earn interest
- Gold produces no returns, so when interest rates offer real yields elsewhere, gold demand drops

What I See In This
Insight 1: Back when I worked as a promoter girl at The Gioi Di Dong showrooms (2014-2016), I learned something about customer behavior. Every customer carries “expectations” — they expect prices to drop, expect products to improve, expect salespeople to be honest. These expectations aren’t random. They form based on signals from the environment — from the Fed, from policy, from what others are doing. Fed rate expectations are exactly this kind of signal. And they change how millions of people behave, which then changes gold prices.
Insight 2: The question nobody wants to ask. If gold falls when interest rates rise, why do Vietnamese women still prefer buying physical gold over depositing money at 4-5% interest rates? If I deposit 100 million VND at 12-month term earning 4-5% interest, I gain 4-5 million extra. If I buy gold, I’m just hoping the price doesn’t drop further. Why is “physical possession of assets” psychologically stronger than “calculating returns”? I think it’s this: Vietnamese women still don’t fully trust the banking system. We want to feel value — we need to hold it in our hands, see its color. That’s a major insight.
Insight 3: This is exactly when female entrepreneurs need a different mindset. During 2020-2022, when I led the Tech Review Team at Big E Co, we didn’t bet on a single asset class. We bet on: knowledge + creative time + relationships. These three things don’t lose value when Fed rates change. Instead, they grow when you invest in them. I want women to know: there are ways to create value that don’t depend on market emotions.
🔍 The Number That Actually Matters
Not the 100 USD drop. The number that matters is: How long until the Fed raises rates again? If it’s just 1-2 times then a pause, gold prices stabilize quickly. But if there’s a long rate-hiking cycle, gold sellers will wait — lose weeks, lose months, lose years. The time your money sits idle is the real cost. I learned this during my Junior Digital Marketing days at Big E Co (2016-2018) — on every advertising campaign, the cost isn’t just money spent, it’s the time waiting for ROI. Gold is identical. You lock money into gold and wait for the right moment to sell. While you wait, what else could you have done with that capital?
I Once…
During 2016-2018 at Big E Co, I constantly studied customer behavior. I noticed something: the richest people weren’t the ones holding gold — they were the ones who knew exactly when to buy and when to sell. More importantly, they didn’t just own passive assets (gold, savings accounts). They built active assets (businesses, skills, networks). It was like leading the Tech Review Team from 2020-2022 — we didn’t just ask “what’s our revenue target?” We built revenue-generating systems. That’s when I realized: Vietnamese female entrepreneurs need a mindset shift — from “owning gold” to “owning the skill of earning money.”
That’s partly why I founded Saigon LadyBoss in April 2026 — because I want women to know more than just today’s gold price. I want them to build truly independent income streams.
Here’s the question I want you to sit with: If the Fed raises rates to 5%, what would you do with 100 million VND right now — buy gold, open a savings account, or invest it in something else? Schedule a free consultation so we can talk about this together.
